What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?

Puerto del Rosario

Those who prefer to have a look around while on holiday as opposed to stagnating on a beach will love Fuerteventura. It is pretty vast and has great driving country and those who hire cars while here are generally not disappointed. In between the dazzling coasts are mountain chains, deep valleys and easy going towns and resorts.

The main holiday resorts in Fuerteventura lie along the east coast of the island (leeward). Those of Costa Calma and Playas de Jandia in the Jandia coastal region of southern Fuerteventura and Corralejo right up in the north being the most popular. They have fantastic beaches which are wide, golden, have good swimming and are backed by excellent hotels.

The attraction for most visitors to Fuerteventura is the beach and there are many to choose from. The highway system in Fuerteventura consists of several loops from north to south and a coast-hugging highway to the southern tip.

In the west is the ancient Fuerteventura capital of Betancuria which has all the allure of ancient Spain, with many old buildings and a superb Museum. Betancuria has a lovely mountain setting to boot, and the drive here by Fuerteventura rental car from the capital city Puerto del Rosario is nice.

Entertainment options on Fuerteventura are good at the main resorts and in the capital, but, thankfully, there is none of the hedonism and debauchery that is generally associated with Spain's mainland resorts. Bars, pubs, and hotels provide the mainstay of the nightlife here.
