A fraudster has been able to copy a fuel card to illegally purchase over £3000 worth of petrol at the same petrol station in West Midlands for six days.
Police said the man used a cloned card at the BP Supermart Petrol Station in Willenhall Road, Bilston on at least 40 occasions.
He also scammed money out of drivers in Birmingham by offering them the chance to fill up their tanks with half price fuel, leading a number of drivers to the filling station.
Police detectives say the man was in his late 30s and of Asian appearance.
The Police Chief from the Bilston police station says the man had told attendants working at the petrol station that he ran a car rental company and chose to fill his fleet’s tanks overnight.
He met motorists at Coventry Road in Birmingham and offered them half-price petrol.
The unsuspecting motorists would then follow him to the petrol station where he filled up their car with the copied card and the owners paid half the value for the fuel dispensed.
Police have since issued CCTV photos of the man of heavy build with a black goatee beard.
